The nearly man in the majors last season, losing a three-hole play-off to Justin Thomas at the PGA Championship and, at the US Open, just missing a putt that would have tied Matt Fitzpatrick and led to more extra holes.

In 2021, Zalatoris might have become the first debutant winner of The Masters since Fuzzy Zoeller in 1979, but finished a stroke behind Hideki Matsuyama.

Tied for sixth on his return there last April, making it an incredible six top eight finishes in the space of eight majors. A month after last summer’s Open, he finally achieved his maiden PGA Tour title, beating Sepp Straka in a play-off for the FedEx St Jude Championship.

Tied for sixth in the 2020 US Open – that included a hole-in-one – but despite an opening 69, his maiden Open at Royal St George's in 2021 ended there because of back trouble and he also missed September’s Presidents Cup through injury.

Followed in the footsteps of Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth by becoming US junior champion in 2014 and three years later was a teammate of Collin Morikawa and Scottie Scheffler in America’s 19-7 Walker Cup victory. Attended Wake Forest College before turning professional in 2018.
